GSA

(Gender & Sexuality Diversity Alliance)

First meeting of 2021 is Monday, September 13!

GSA stands for "Gay-Straight Alliance" or "Gender & Sexuality Alliance." The GSA at West High is a student-led organization established to provide a safe environment for members of the LGBTQ+ environment and its allies.

Research confirms that the presence of a GSA club has a positive and lasting effect on student health, wellness, and academic performance. It can also help protect students from harassment based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity, and improve school climates for all students in the long term (GSA Network. "What is a GSA Club?" https://gsanetwork.org).

GSA meets every other Monday in the Collab Lab until 3:30.

Its mission is for members to:

  • Learn about LGBTQ+ history not taught in school

  • Share experiences in a supportive and welcoming environment

  • Help create learning opportunities for the school community

Wanna know more? Talk to GSA President, Alexa Cato, or swing by the library to chat with sponsors, Mrs. Grieshaber or Mrs. O'Daniels.

Interested? Visit a meeting to see what we're all about. No need to sign up in advance.
